I've been testing patterns and have so many awesome patterns recently. I'm so excited to share just one of them today. I've been trying to prepare for my memade summer wardrobe. The only problem is that I'm terrible at dressing in the summer- if it's not a maxi dress, sack dress, or a swimsuit I don't want to wear it. That's why the Sommar dress from Made for mermaids is perfect for me. It's cute, easy to wear, and I don't have to shave my legs to pull it off. There's even a shelf bra hack if you want to get real lazy with it- which I totally do. I used a gorgeous art gallery knit I picked up from Fiberge in Cincinnati.
The pattern sewed together really nicely. The knit binding was a bit finicky to iron, but in the end worked out well. It's applied like bias binding when you use wovens. I will say if you're using a four-way stretch it might be smart to size down, mine came out a little looser than I intended but still totally wearable. The gathered skirt goes in smoothly, and with the pattern having you use clear elastic the seam stays neat and doesn't distort. I feel like this is going to be what I wear to the pool all year over my swim suits.
The Sommer pattern comes out today, and is on sale! Each pattern is on sale individually (no code needed) OR you can build your own bundle! Buy any 2 Sommer patterns with the coupon code buy2sommer for $3 off your total purchase. OR get all 3 Sommer patterns and save another $5 off your total purchase with the buy3sommer coupon code. The sale is only available on the M4M site and ends Sunday 5/14 midnight cst.
There's also a blog post over on the made for mermaids blog about all the official hacks, so make sure and check that out. Now if only the wheather in the midwest would catch up with my summer mindset- it's been rainy and cold the past week. :(
